  • Types of Yoga

Hatha Flow & Functional Movement is a fusion yoga class that combines the ancient practice of Hatha Yoga with modern functional movement principles. Hatha Yoga, originating in India, emphasises strength, flexibility, and mindfulness through deliberate postures (asanas) and breathwork (pranayama), promoting balance between the body and mind. Functional movement focuses on enhancing mobility, stability, and strength for real-life activities. Together, these practices create a dynamic class that stabilises the body, improves overall physical health, and fosters harmony within the nervous system.

Yang to Yin Yoga is a class that combines dynamic, energizing movements (Yang) with slow, introspective stretches (Yin) to create a balanced practice.

The Yang portion typically includes active, flowing sequences such as Vinyasa or Hatha-inspired movements, focusing on building strength, stamina, and warmth in the body. This phase engages muscles and increases energy, encouraging vitality and dynamism.

The Yin portion shifts to longer-held, passive poses that target the deeper connective tissues, such as fascia, ligaments, and joints. This phase promotes relaxation, flexibility, and introspection, helping to calm the nervous system and enhance mindfulness.

By blending these two complementary styles, Yang to Yin Yoga offers a holistic practice that energizes the body while fostering deep relaxation and mental clarity. It’s ideal for those seeking balance in both physical effort and restorative stillness.

Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative practice that involves holding passive poses for extended periods to target deep connective tissues like fascia, ligaments, and joints. This practice enhances flexibility, supports joint health, improves circulation, and promotes relaxation by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. Yin Yoga also cultivates mindfulness and provides a restorative counterbalance to active, high-energy lifestyles.
